Abstract
148,616. White, J. W. April 23, 1919. Winch-actuated hoists with guided skips. - A guided skip-hoist is fed by a continuously-acting conveyer 1 which discharges material into a receptacle 2 which tips the material into the skip 4. A motor 7, controlled by a reversing switch giving a time lag at each reversal such as is described in Specification 141,195, drives a winch 6 which raises the loaded skip until it is tilted by a bracket 15 and discharges into a shoot 16. When the empty bucket is lowered it strikes a bent lever 18 which tips the receptacle 2 so that it again discharges into the skip. The reversing-switch, as shown, comprises a tilting trough 9 pivoted on a shaft 10. A pin 13 on a worm-wheel 11 driven by the motor tilts the trough after each traverse of the bucket, thus withdrawing the conducting- liquid in the trough from the contacts and stopping the motor. The conducting-liquid then flows through a restricted passage to the lower end of the trough and after a time interval completes the circuit in the reverse direction.
