Abstract

1485575 Wheelchairs EVEREST & JENNINGS Inc 29 Aug 1975 35710/75 Heading B7B In a wheelchair comprising parallel C-frames 10, 11, coupling means including inner tubes 36, 37 received in the open ends of a transverse tube 35 mounted between the C-frames, are retracted against outward bias for coupling with sockets 39, 40 at the forward end of a removable chair frame 28, which is thus pivotable about the transverse axis of arm 35. As shown in Fig. 3 the inner tubes 36, 37 have associated knobs 50, 51 engaging the ends of slots 48, 50 in the transverse tube 35, the knobs being moved inwardly against bias of spring 38 to retract the tubes 36, 37. Shock absorbers 26 connect the upper and lower arms of the C-frames 10, 11. A rear transverse member 20 connecting the C- frames may serve to support an electric drive motor and associated batteries.
