Abstract

1485253 Hot melt compositions TOYO SODA MFG CO Ltd 6 Feb 1976 [6 Feb 1975] 04734/76 Heading C3P [Also in Division C5] Hot melt adhesive and coating compositions comprise (1) an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer containing 10 to 45 weight per cent of vinyl acetate and having a melt index of 1 to 1000 g./10 mins. and/or a rubber and (2) an oxidized propylene/ethylene copolymer having an acid value of 1 to 20, an ethylene content of 1 to 20 weight per cent and an average molecular weight of 500 to 10,000. The compositions may also contain a tackifier, e.g. rosins, modified rosins and petroleum resins, a wax or an asphalt, or a conventional pigment or filler. Examples describe compositions comprising oxidized propylene/ethylene copolymers; ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers or styrene/butadiene block copolymers; and glycerol ester of hydrogenated rosin, hydrogenated dicyclopentadiene resin, hydrogenated rosin, cyclopentadiene resin, polymerized rosin or wax.
