Abstract
1485080 Dual hydraulic braking systems FIAT SpA 15 Sept 1975 [25 Sept 1974] 37835/75 Heading F2F An hydraulic braking system including antiskid control comprises a rear circuit 101 fed from pump 53 and controlled by the throttling of a chamber 41 in response to the pressure in a first chamber 31 and, a front circuit 105 fed from chamber 97 whose pressure is dependent on that in a third chamber 81 which is at rear brake pressure. Depression of pedal 111 causes a first piston 9 to move to the left generating a pressure increase in chamber 31 which is communicated via passage 7 to raise a piston 11 restricting flow from transmission driven volumetric pump to reservoir 49 and causing a consequent pressure increase in pipe 57 which communicates with rear brakes 99 via switch valve 61, antiskid device 73 the third chamber 81. The pressure increase in chamber 81 causes leftward movement of piston 81 to operate front brakes 103. If, however, the vehicle is stationary, i.e. the pump 53 is inoperative, pedal depression causes passage of fluid from chamber 31 via constricted passage 65 and switch valve 61 to operate the brakes as before. If a failure occurs in the rear brake circuit the front brakes are still operable as piston-rod 25 may contact piston 87 and cause leftward movement thereof.
