Abstract

1484990 Fluid-pressure control circuits SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd 4 Oct 1974 35850/73 Heading F1P [Also in Division F2] Lifting mechanisms 10-13 are raised at equal rates even when a load is unevenly distributed between them by supplying each mechanism through a flow regulator 23. Check valves 22 prevent flow from one mechanism to another. Similar regulators 27 and check valves 28 control the mechanisms when the load is lowered. To regulate the flow during raising of the load, the pressure drop across an orifice 57 in each regulator 23 adjusts a sleeve 53 against a spring 59 and hence the degree of alignment between apertures 54, 62, the check valve 22 being arranged upstream of the orifice. During lowering, the pressure drop across an orifice 58 adjusts the sleeve and the check valve 28 is opened. The mechanisms may support a demountable body on a commercial vehicle.
