Abstract
1484642 Purification of dialysis liquid GAMBRO AG 19 March 1975 [21 March 1974] 11402/75 Heading B1X At least one toxic substance consisting of or being converted into ammonium ions exchangeable in an ion exchanger is removed from the dialysis liquid of a recirculating dialysis system by using as ion exchanger a zeolite having the ability of selectively sorbing ammonium ions and having a selectivity coef- NH 4 ficient α of at least 5 and an exchange Na capacity of at least 2 mequir/g. The zeolite may be a heulandite, a mordenite, a chabazite, a natrolite, an analcite, a faujasite or a phillipsite. Urea may be present as a toxic substance, which may be first converted into ammonium carbonate by means of urease prior to above treatment.
