Abstract

An organic polyol is condensed with equivalent amounts of an organic polyisocyanate compound in the presence of a new phosphorus-containing compound. The latter is the flameproofing agent. Also present during the condensation are activators, blowing agents and/or cell regulators. The new phosphorus-containing flameproofing compound has the following formula: <IMAGE> where the substituents are each as defined in Claim 1. The self-extinguishing polyurethane moulding compositions obtained, which may also be obtained in the foamed or expanded form, have a particularly good flame resistance effect and can be used as thermal insulators in the building industry, in refrigerators and in tanker vehicles and also as an upholstery material.
