Abstract

1483049 Surgical retractor apparatus J K HURSON 24 July 1974 [6 Aug 1973] 31531/75 Divided out of 1483048 Heading A5R Surgical retractor apparatus comprises a rigid, fixed, substantially planar frame having two parallel frame members 15, 16 and a fixed cross member 14 rigidly connected to them, and an adjustable cross member 17 mounted on the parallel frame members and adjustable therealong, the adjustable frame member being pivotable relative to the parallel frame members. Each of the cross memers 14 and 17 may have one or more retractor hooks 19, 20, 21, 22 slidably mounted thereon. The parallel frame members 15 and 16 have teeth 23 on one surface which cooperate with a pivoting portion of cros-member 17 to prevent the member 17 approaching member 14 until the pivoting portion is displaced by the operator of the apparatus. The apparatus may be used with suitable retractors 35, 36 as claimed in Parent Specification 1483048 held on the frame by clamps 33, 34 such as those claimed in Specification 1483050, see Division E1-2.
