Abstract

1432966 Apparatus for stretching skins E CARLESSI and D CARLESSI [trading as FRATELLI CARLESSI Snc] 28th June 1973 30832/73 Heading C6C Apparatus for stretching skins, including a support structure 1 on which is mounted a stretching frame 4 comprising a pair of substantially co-planar frame parts 10, 11 on which a skin to be stretched is laid, the parts being movable in their common plane relative towards and away from each other, and at least one extension unit comprising first 18 and second 19 members slidable relative to each other, the or each unit being movable into and out of an operative position in which the first and second members are engageable respectively with the parts in such a manner that actuation of the unit(s) result in relative movement of the two frame parts away from each other whereby a skin laid on and connected to the frame parts is stretched. Preferably the stretching frame comprises a fixed and a movable frame part and the or each unit comprises a fixed and a movable member, the projection of the fixed member, in the operative position of the unit, engaging with the fixed frame part, and the projection of the movable member, in the operative position of the unit, engaging with the movable frame part. The apparatus may include locking means 9 for securing the stretching frame in an extended position.
