Abstract

1483017 Discharging shaft furnaces N I INST SLANTSEV and SLANTSEPERERABATYVAJUSCHY KOMBINAT "KOKHTLA-YARVE" IM VI LENINA 15 April 1975 15330/75 Heading F4B [Also in Division C5] A shaft furnace for the semicoking of lump solid fuel, e.g. oil shale, comprises a shaft 1 accommodating a semicoking zone 2 incorporating two shale distillation chambers 5, a gasifying zone 3, a zone 4 for cooling solid waste material, and a pair of unloading devices for discharging the solid waste material from the shaft bottom, with each unloading device comprising a downwardly tapering hopper 22 opening into a trough 30 provided with a water seal 23, a sector-shaped rocking-type combined valve and pusher member 24 arranged to open and close the hopper bottom, and an articulated mechanical shovel 29 operative to remove solid waste material from said trough on to a conveyer 34, said mechanical shovel 29 and said valve and pusher member 24 being linked mechanically via a rod 31 and being associated with hydraulic rams 33 and 38. Oil shale is charged into the furnace from hoppers 16 via gate valves 18 and belts 19. A heat carrier, generated in a central chamber 6 by means of burners 14 and gas supply means 15, is fed into the semicoking zone 2 via nozzles 9, the resulting vapour-gas mixture being collected in lateral chambers 7 and discharged therefrom via outlet ducts 20. Metallic gratings 10 separate chambers 7 from the distillation chambers 5. Gasification agent or a heat carrier are introduced into the zone 3 via nozzles 12 in a vertical wall 13 of slide chambers 11 which are also provided with burners 14 and gas supply means 15. Steam may also be introduced into the zone 3 through suitable inlets (not shown). Cooling gas is supplied to the waste material cooling zone 4 through inlets 21. The trough 30 comprises arcuate and sloping sections merging with one another, with the mechanical shovel 29 being disposed above the sloping section of the trough.
