Abstract

1482926 Refrigerators HOTPOINT Ltd 18 Nov 1974 [19 Dec 1973] 58729/73 Heading F4H A refrigerator comprises a food storage compartment 8, a meat storage container 10 and a fan 44 providing forced air circulation to the compartment over an evaporator 27 so that substantially all the circulating air enters the compartment through a duet 58 formed in the underside of the container 10. The duct is formed by a recoss having a cover-plate slidably mounted therein which has a layer of thermally insulating material on its upper surface and which is secured in the recess by a latch. The fan 44 also delivers air via a vertical duct 48 to an upper freezer compartment 7 from the evaporator which is housed in a horizontal partition 6 dividing the refrigerator into the freezer and storage compartment. Air flow from the compartments 7, 8 recirculates to the evaporator via inlets 41, 43 respectively in the partition which is thermally insulated. A de-frost system controlled by a timer, not shown, operates an electric heating element 31 in contact with fins 29 of the evaporator, condensate being removed via a drain pan 33 and ducts 35, 36 into an evaporating pan 37 adjacent the compressor 15.
