1482902 Covered storage dish A W HOWE 29 Jan 1976 [31 Jan 1975] 03515/76 Heading A4A A covered storage dish for foodstuffs e.g. cheese, comprises, a bell shaped cover 34 of oval horizontal cross-section having transverse internal walls 36a, 36b, and a platter 31 having three raised areas 32a, 32b, 32c with grooves 33a, 33b therebetween, whereby when the cover 34 is placed over the platter, the bottom edge of the outer wall of cover 34 engages around the raised portions 32a, 32b, 32c and the bottom edges of walls 36a, 36b engage in grooves 33a, 33b respectively to define separate compartments 38a, 38b, 38c under the cover 34. Wall 36a is closer to the centre of the cover 34 than wall 36b whereby the cover 34 may be placed over the platter 31 in only one orientation. The cover 34 is transparent. The cover may alternatively be of circular horizontal cross-section, Figs. 1-6 (not shown), or of rectangular cross-section, Figs. 7-9 (not shown). The platter may alternatively have a raised circumferential rim to ensure engagement of the cover on the platter, an inlaid strip on the platter showing the dividing line over which the dividing wall rests. Various ways of arranging the wall or walls inside the cover are described. When symmetry would make it possible to replace the cover on the platter in more than one position, a thickened portion adjacent the bottom of the cover is preferably provided for enagement with a cut-out portion of a raised surface part of the platter, preventing replacement of the cover in any but a given position. Alternatively, or in addition, markings on the sides of the cover and platter may be provided.
