Abstract

1482534 Hose connectors; flexible hoses SARMCOL PTY Ltd 8 Nov 1974 [8 Nov 1973] 48360/74 Headings F2G and F2P An end-connection 34 attached to a multi-ply hose has a spigot 14 sandwiched between adjacent plies 10, 12 and secured therebetween by use of a bonding agent which passes through perforations 36 provided in the spigot 14. Preferably the adjacent plies 10, 12 and the innermost ply 2 are of rubber or other polymeric, preferably elastomeric, material. The adjacent plies 10, 12 are preferably separated from the innermost ply 2 by a further ply or plies, those plies inward of the spigot 14 extending to the mouth of the end-connection 34. The latter may be recessed as at 42 to receive the end of the innermost ply 2. In order to obtain gradually decreasing flexibility towards the mouth, there may be applied helical wire reinforcing 22, 26 of decreasing pitch in the direction away from the mouth (not shown). The hose comprises a rubber innermost ply 2, a breakerstrip 4, an interply 6, an open weave fabric ply 8, rubber interplies 10, 12, a breakerstrip 16, further interplies 18, 20 enclosing coils 22 of reinforcing wire, a further reinforcing ply 24, further wire reinforcing 26, an interply 28, a breakerstrip 30 and a cover 32.
