Abstract

1481702 Lasers UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 24 Oct 1974 [2 Nov 1973] 51122/73 Heading H1C In a gas laser having a gas inlet 2, outlet 3 and cathode 5, the anode comprises a planar array 6 of individually ballasted electrodes 7 situated so that the pumping discharge between 5 and 6 is maintained transverse to both the gas flow direction and the optic axis of the laser cavity (whose cross-section is marked L on the Figure). As shown, the anode comprises five rows of copper pins 7. Both anode and cathode, and also the active medium are cooled. The active medium may be a CO 2 -N 2 -He mixture.
