Abstract
1481269 Mixing apparatus DE BEERS INDUSTRIAL DIAMOND DIVISION Ltd 18 Dec 1975 [14 Jan 1975] 51925/75 Heading B1C [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for splitting a supply of particles to obtain a sample which is representative of the supply comprises a housing defining an enclosed space through which a stream of the particles can flow under the action of gravity, a plurality of deflectors mounted in the housing for deflecting particles in the stream, the deflectors being arranged in a plurality of vertically spaced layers with each layer being defined by a plurality of deflectors that are spaced horizontally from one another and span the horizontal cross-section of the housing, and means to collect at most a portion of the particles at the base of the housing. Apparatus for mixing and sampling industrial diamonds and resin particles comprises a housing 10 with two stacks 12, 14 of rods 15 which extend across the housing and are arranged in spaced layers 16 the rods of stack 12 lying at 90 to those of stack 14, a collection tray 22 being arranged at the base of the housing with sample-receiving bins or containers 24, 26 of known size or proportion relative to the tray 22 for collecting representative samples of known weight. For comtinuous sampling an off take pipe of known inlet size may be arranged beneath the rod stacks. The rods of different layers may lie at angles other than 90 and layers of differently orientated rods may be interleaved rather than arranged in stacks 12, 14 as shown.
