Abstract

1481111 Touch responsive switches INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 6 March 1975 [14 March 1974] 9351/75 Heading G1N [Also in Division H3] A touch responsive control panel e.g. for use with television and radio receivers comprises three stacked mutually insulated panels the bottom one of which carries the circuit elements, the second, Fig. 2, carries pairs of touch electrodes 4, 4a arranged to be bridged by a finger and the third of which is a cover-plate 9. The electrodes 4, 4a of each pair are insulated from each other by air-gaps 5 which also enable a respective signal lamp on the bottom panel, which indicates the last electrodes to be touched, to be viewed through the second panel. Intermediate electrodes 6 arranged between adjacent pairs of electrodes 4, 4a are joined together to form one common electrode layer 7 which is insulated from the electrodes by insulation strips 8. Cover-plate 9 is made of metal or provided with a metal layer and is provided with slots 10 and 11 to expose the electrode pairs 4, 4a as well as the air-gaps 5, the electrodes of the upper slot 10 being used for channel selection and those of slot 11 for brightness, sound or colour control.
