Abstract

1480917 Tyre and wheel assemblies NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 24 Sept 1974 [26 Oct 1973] 41517/74 Heading B7C A vehicle tyre and wheel assembly comprises a tyre 12 having bead toes 29 which are formed of a hard rubber with a hardness of at least 60 as measured by the A.S.T.M. D2240 test and which engage ridges 20a, 20b formed integrally with the bead seats 18a, 18b of the wheel rim to prevent displacement of the tyre beads into a well 21 of the wheel rim. In one embodiment, Fig. 2, each bead has a radial flat surface engaging the associated ridge on the rim and incorporates a circular section bead wire 44, both the toe 29 of the bead and an apex strip 46a being formed of the hard rubber. Each bead may alternatively have a substantially triangular section bead wire embedded in the hard rubber forming the bead toe (Fig. 3, not shown). The width of the wheel rim may be 0À5-0À8 the maximum section width of the tyre.
