Abstract

1480748 Transfer printing KODAK Ltd 13 March 1975 [14 March 1974] 11453/74 Heading D1B [Also in Division G2] A photographic transfer process comprises (i) imagewise exposing a sensitive material comprising a support bearing a layer containing (a) a dye (which term includes dye precursors and optical brightening agents) containing at least two groups selected from azido, azidocarbonyl, azidocarbonyloxy, azidosulphonyl, o- or p-diazo-oxide, trichloromethyl or tribromomethyl groups, and (b) a heattransferable compound, e.g. a polyester of a glycol and cis-4-cyclohexene-1, 2-dicarboxylic acid, which is cross-linked by the dye in imagewise exposed areas rendering it non-heat-transferable, (ii) holding the exposed material in contact with a fabric or film to be printed, and (iii) heating to transfer at least some of the heat-transferable image of the fabric or film and cause it to react therewith. The process may be used to transfer-print textile materials of a variety of fibres.
