Abstract

1478651 Cadmium sulphide CANON KK 4 June 1974 [4 June 1973] 24719/74 Heading C1A [Also in Division G2] Photoconductive particles useful for electrophotography are prepared by contacting a solution of CdCl 2 with H 2 S to form a precipitate of cadmium sulphide containing additional chlorine and firing the product, there being added at or before at least one of the above steps an acceptor impurity. A donor impurity may also be added at or before the precipitation step. Donor impurities are selected from Al, In and Ga and acceptor impurities from metals of Groups Ia or Ib of the Periodic Table. The CdCl 2 solution may additionally contain a second cadmium compound in solution or suspension.
