Abstract

1478020 Treatment of asthma BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 2 Sept 1974 [14 Sept 1973] 43218/73 Addition to 1399460 Heading A5B Pharmaceutical compositions for administration by insufflation in the treatment of extrinsic asthma and hay fever in the form of a free-flowing powder comprising particles of 1-(3, 4-dihydroxy-phenyl)-2-isopropylamino-1- butanol or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof as active ingredient substantially all (i.e. at least 85% by weight) of which particles of active ingredient have diameters in the range 0.01 to 10 microns and particles of at least one pharmaceutically acceptable non-hygroscopic solid carrier e.g. lactose, mannitol, substantially all of which carrier particles have diameters in the range 30 to 100 microns. The active ingredient is preferably the 1-erythro isomer and a preferred acid addition salt is the methane sulphonate.
