Abstract

1477933 Transistor inverters INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd 19 Sept 1975 [21 Sept 1974] 41199/74 Heading H2F [Also in Division H3] To stabilize partition of switched current pulses between collector-emitter paths of a plurality of transistors, e.g. TR1-TR4, connected in parallel in a pulse switching circuit driven by a pulse source 12 feeding the bases, the collector-emitter paths are interconnected by transformers to increase the impedance to any out of balance current with simultaneous inducement of increased current through any path connected to the other winding. For equal current storing all transformers have 1 : 1 ratio; for non-uniform partition, ratios may be adjusted accordingly. For two transistors only one transformer is used, but for more than two transistors cyclic connection as T1-T4 allows a loss of current through one transistor to be compensated by all the remainder. Diodes D1-D4 assist turn off at the end of each pulse fed through base resistors R1-R4. Application of two such switching circuits to a push-pull inverter is possible used for example in a computer power supply.
