Abstract
1477722 Drying articles WALLACE KNIGHT Ltd 26 Nov 1975 [3 Oct 1974] 42990/74 Heading F4G A radiation apparatus for drying articles, e.g. paper or fibre board having printing ink thereon comprises a shoot which is inclined to the horizontal and a radiation lamp mounted above the shoot, the arrangement being such that articles fed into the shoot will move under gravity down the shoot and beneath the lamp to be subject to the radiation of the latter. The inclination of the shoot may be varied. The shoot is enclosed and a lamp housing is mounted on the top wall thereof. The shoot in the vicinity of the lamp or over its whole extent is ventilated by a fan in a duct. Alternatively water cooled ducts may be provided. Automatic controls are provided whereby the fan and radiation lamp are energized on an article being placed in the shoot. A delay mechanism is provided in the de-energizing circuit. The base of the shoot may be smooth or may be formed by free running rollers.
