Alarms operated by inflammable devices.- In conjunction with means whereby, should the film of a kinematograph projector take fire, one or more electric circuits are completed to open emergency exits, illuminate the hall, &c., and a safety shutter on one or on each spool box is automatically closed, the closing of such safety shutters simultaneously causes the closing of the circuit. As shown, a spring-closed shutter 3 on a slotted projection 2 of a spool box 1 is normally held open by a highly inflammable cord 5 connected to an arm 6. Contacts 7, 8 are provided on the projection 2, and on ignition of the cord 5 the shutter 3 closes on to the contacts and completes the circuit. In a modification, the shutter 3 may have an extension which operates a switch as the shutter closes.
