Abstract

1477527 Electro-photographic fixing apparatus INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 25 Oct 1974 [19 Dec 1973] 46260/74 Heading G2H An electro-photographic apparatus comprises a fusing station 8 having hot-roll fuser means and an auxiliary heating device 22. A heated roller 24 includes a heat-conducting tube 26 having infrared lamps 28 therein and a deformable outer layer 30. The auxiliary heating device 22 contacts the back of a web 6 before it reaches the fuser means. An elastically deformable back-up roller 32, adjusted by cam 34, provides the pressure against roller 24. The tube 26 may be copper or aluminium, suitable thicknesses for layer 30 and meshing pressure for certain temperatures are all given. Cleaning means for the photo-conductor comprise an erase lamp, pre-clean corona and a rotating brush.
