1476295 Pivot joints SILENTBLOC Ltd 5 June 1974 [3 April 1974] 04481/77 Divided out of 1475688 Heading E2F [Also in Division F2] A pivot joint comprises an inner member 50 situated within and spaced from the bore of an outer member 51 with the interposition of a resilient member 53 which has end portions 54, each of which is in contact with both the inner and outer members 50, 51, around its whole periphery, and an integral intermediate portion 58 which is separated. from the bore of the outer member 51. Some peripheral regions, the joint also comprising a ring 56 of a material of greater stiffness than that of the resilient member 53, lying between the end portions 54 and radially inside the intermediate portion 58. The resilient member may have additional relief locally to give asymmetrical characteristics, as at 71, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) which illustrate a bonded assembly before insertion into the outer member.
