Abstract

1476198 Selective embossing NEW KON INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 20 June 1974 27338/74 Heading B6F A selective embossing machine comprises a motor 2, Fig. 1, driving a cam-shaft 8 through a planetary gear mechanism 14, 17, 18, Fig. 2, keys 5 being provided to arrest the cam-shaft to position embossing wheels 26a, 26b. The motor 2 drives a stub shaft 9 fixed to sun gear 14 which drives planet gears 17 mounted in a frame 15 rotatable about stub shaft 9 and carrying cams 12, 13 associated with embossing and tape feed means. The planet gears 17 mesh with a ring gear 18 which is fixed to the cam-shaft 8. When a key 5 is depressed, it engages a stop surface on a respective cam 23 whereby the embossing wheels are positioned. The ring gear is thereby arrested, allowing frame 15 to rotate against holding force provided by a follower 24 engaging a flat on cam 13. Cam 12 is thus rotated, firstly displacing a follower 30, 32 to actuate toggle mechanism 3 to squeeze a type carrying finger on wheel 26b against wheel 26a and emboss tape T. A follower 43, 34 is then displaced to drive tape feed rollers 63, 64 through pawl 66.
