Abstract

1476147 Measuring fluid-flow A C WILSON 12 Nov 1975 [12 Nov 1974] 48816/74 Heading G1R A fluid-flow measuring device comprises a perforated diaphragm, e.g., a plate with holes or a lattice formation, and means to sample fluidpressure at both the upstream and downstream faces of the diaphragm. A plate 1 in a pipe has holes with rounded upstream edges and probes 4, 4a, on the upstream and downstream faces connected to a manometer (not shown) by pipes 7. The diaphragm 9 may be in a branch from a pipe 10 and be upstream of a diffuser 11. The perforated plate may additionally serve as a flow straightener or sound attenuator. The probes may be integral with a plug fitting in one of the holes in the diaphragm Fig. 6 (not shown).
