Abstract
1437557 Measuring fluid-flow FISCHER & PORTER Ltd 9 Oct 1974 43825/74 Heading G1R In a vortex shedding flowmeter, a vortex shedding element 11 is mounted in a conduit 10' having a cross-sectional area smaller than that of the upstream and downstream sections 12, 13 of the pipe line and the oscillations created by the element 11 are detected by a suitable sensor or transducer to produce a signal processed by an amplifier 14. The inlet and outlet 10A', 10B' may be chamfered or rounded and the bore diameter may be gradually increased towards its ends, Fig. 3 (not shown). In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 4, 5 (not shown), an insert, provided at one end with a flange, contains the vortex shedding element and extends within the downstream section of the pipe line.
