Abstract

1475272 Rotary tablet press KILIAN & CO GmbH 22 May 1975 [28 June 1974] 22285/75 Heating B5A [Also in Division G3] In a rotary tablet press of the type in which, in order to reduce variations in tablet weight, control means control the volume of the tablet moulds at the filling station by causing adjusting means to vary the position of the bottom rams of the moulds in dependence upon the tablet pressing pressure at a pressing station, the control means includes delay means which, after an adjusting action by the said adjusting means, interrupts the power supply to the adjusting means, preferably for a time at least equal to the time of travel of a tablet mould from the filling station to the pressing station; in addition, monitoring means initiates a warning signal and/or causes cessation of press operation if there occurs a predetermined number of successive adjusting actions in the same sense of the adjusting means. The adjusting means is preferably a servomotor and the delay means preferably contains a bimetallic switch through which the servomotor current flows, the open time of the switch being substantially longer than, and suitably about five times, the closed time. The monitoring means may comprise a counter incorporated in the servomotor control circuit whereby the successive number of forward and reverse movements of the servomotor are counted.
