[Also in Division G1] The pivoted beam of a weighing machine is cranked as shown so that the counter-weight 22 which is a cylinder of magnetic material, rolls past a series of detector heads 23 and operates a series of switches in unspecified apparatus 24. As the beam moves into equilibrium, a switch unit 25 stops further closure of the switches 24. The number of switches closed is thus an indication of the weight of the load 3. The cylinder 22 is then reset.
