Abstract

1475078 Isolating body regions UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 18 Oct 1974 [9 Nov 1973] 52037/73 Heading A5R Apparatus for isolating a body region from its environment comprises a hollow collar 8 having orifices 12, for surrounding the region and means 5, 6, 7 for supplying sterile air to the collar for discharge away from the body under conditions of laminar flow, the arrangement being such that gaps between the collar and the body are sealed. The collar 8 is connected to a supply of sterile air through a junction box 5 and flexible pipes 6, 7 and is either conformable to the body or sealed against the body surrounding the region by a curtain of flexible impervious material. The collar is made of stainless steel or plastics.
