Abstract

1475061 Thiazolidine derivatives STAUFFER CHEMICAL CO 9 Feb 1976 [10 Feb 1975] 04898/76 Addition to 1403876 Heading C2C Novel thiazolidine derivatives of the formula wherein R is CH 2 Cl, CHCl 2 , CH 2 CCl 2 or CH 2 ClCH 2 ; R 1 is C 2 H 5 or CH 3 ; R 2 is H or CH 3 ; R 3 = R 4 = R 6 = H ; R 5 is H or CH 3 and n is 1 or 2, are prepared by oxidizing the corresponding thiazolidine of the formula to convert the compound to the corresponding sulphoxide (n = 1) or sulphone (n = 2). A suitable oxidizing agent is m-chloroperbenzoic acid. The novel compounds possess herbicidal properties.
