Abstract

1474888 Making card clothing elements ENGLISH CARD CLOTHING CO Ltd 27 Sept 1974 [4 Oct 1973] 46295/73 Heading DIN An arcuate card clothed carding element is made by locating card clothing 16 on a convex former 10 with its teeth innermost then applying a shape sustaining element 20 in a manipulable form to the outside of the card clothing, rendering it rigid and bonding it to the card clothing, the so formed element then being removed from the former. The former 10 may be part cylindrical or cylindrical and the card clothing wound theron, Fig. 1 (not shown). The sustaining element may be timber which is flexible and impregnated with resin or rigid timber (e.g. plywood) with internal or external saw cuts 22 at least partly filled with resin. Alternatively the sustaining element may be resin reinforced with e.g. glass or carbon fiber. The sustaining element can be pre-bent on a former 21 which can also serve for mounting the element in a carding machine. The card clothing can be fillet or toothed wire type and may be as claimed in Specification 1474889. Specification 1474890 is referred to.
