Abstract
1474340 Making carbonaceous electrolysis cathodes ELETTROCARBONIUM SpA 23 June 1975 [17 July 1974] 26513/75 Heading C7B A cathode for a fused-salt Al-production cell is made by moulding a portion of a metallic bus-bar into a block of carbon, graphite or carbon-bonded graphite and followed by firing the assembly. The bus-bar may be wholly embedded or may have an exposed surface flush with the cathode. The block may have one or two elevated edge rims which in use form one or both side walls of the cathode hearth in a cell. Where both rims are present, the length of each block equals cell width.
