Abstract

1474186 Mounting lighting fittings ROTAFLEX (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 23 Oct 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 49286/73 Heading F4R A light fitting comprises a body 1 and a swivel bracket 3 for mounting the body 1 with respect to an external support for rotation about two axes Al and A2 which intersect at 45 degrees at the centre of the part-spherical outer surface of the body 1 which fits against the bracket 3. The bracket 3, Fig. 2, has a first pivotal mounting 9 at one end 5 for receiving the body 1 to the bracket 3 about the axis A2 and a second pivotal mounting 5 at the other end for securing the bracket 3 to an external support, e.g. a wall, ceiling or lighting track, about the axis Al. As shown, the body 1 has cylindrical extensions from the part-spherical portion and the bracket is moulded in two halves 3A, 3B with a surface 12 shaped to the spherical part of the body. The bracket may be hollow so as to conceal the electrical supply flex 7. Alternatively, Fig. 3 (not shown), the fitting body is formed entirely as a major segment of a hollow sphere acting as a lampshade/reflector and the bracket is in the form of an arcuate arm having the pivotal mountings at its opposite ends.
