1474119 Catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxides KOGYO KK 11 Sept 1974 39683/74 Heading B1E [Also in Division Cl] A catalyst for reduction of nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases comprises at least one metal or compound of a metal selected from Cr, Mn and metals of Gps. Ib (e.g. Cu, Ag, Au), IIb (e.g. Zn, Hg, Cd) and VIII (e.g. Fe, Ni, Co, Pd) supported by a carrier comprising a naturally-occuring inorganic tuff, the tuff being formed principally of SiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 and H 2 O and containing a combined total of 1 to 10% wt of alkali metal oxide and alkaline earth metal oxide. The carrier may be treated with an ammonium-cation-containing solution before application of the metal or metal compound.
