Abstract

1473921 Benzothiadiazine derivatives DOW CHEMICAL CO 17 Sept 1974 [17 Sept 1973] 40458/74 Heading C2C Novel compounds of formula wherein each X independently represents loweralkyl, halo-loweralkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, -SON, -COOR<SP>5</SP>, Y<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>, SO 2 R<SP>5</SP>, SO 2 NR<SP>3</SP>R<SP>4</SP>, CCl 3 , CF 3 , or Y<SP>11</SP>CF 2 C(Z) 3 ; n is 1 to 4, inclusive; m is 1 or 2; R and R<SP>1</SP> each independently represent hydrogen, loweralkyl, haloloweralkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, benzyl, alkenyl, haloalkenyl, alkynyl, haloalkynyl, Y<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>, SCCl 3 , NH 2 , arylsulphonyl, alkylsulphonyl; or -C(CH 3 ) 2 C#N; R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> each independently represent hydrogen or loweralkyl; R<SP>5</SP> represents loweralkyl; each Y, Y<SP>1</SP> and Y<SP>11</SP> independently represents oxygen or sulphur; each Z independently represents hydrogen, bromo, fluoro or chloro, or, where at least one of R and R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen, a salt thereof with an organic or inorganic base, are prepared by ring closure of or by appropriate exchange of substituents. " Lower " denotes C 1-6 . 2 - Isopropylaminosulphonylamino - 5 - thiocyanato-benzoic acid is prepared from 5-thiocyanatoanthranilic acid and isopropylsulphamoyl chloride. The above novel compounds are used as herbicides.
