Abstract

1473594 Electric resistance heating ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 11 Sept 1975 [10 Oct 1974] 43963/74 Heading H5H An end 11, Fig. 2; 27, Fig. 4 of a tubular sheathed electric resistance heating element 1 extends through an aperture 8 in a supporting member 5, Fig. 2; 29, Fig. 4, where it is wedged by means of a wedging member 9, Fig. 2; 30, Fig. 4, forced into a second aperture 10 that distorts material around the first aperture so that the element is gripped. The wedging member 9, 30, may be a ball or other tapered or curved member. A wedge in one such second aperture 10 may grip two ends 11, 27 of a heating element 1 in respective apertures 8. Two such second apertures may lie on opposite sides of the two ends. The supporting member is a hollow cylinder with the apertures in the end wall and a circumscribed groove 15 to hold grease to permit swivelling of the element 1 when member 29 is in a hollow cylindrical bearing 31 secured to a protrusion in reflector 24 (see Fig. 4). Reflector 24 is secured to a hob top by means of stud 26.
