Abstract
1473390 Current transfer arrangements G WIRMSBERGER 7 May 1974 [11 May 1873 1 June 1973] 20168/74 Heading H2A In a current transfer arrangement, a rotatable member 1 of resilient material has a conductive peripheral surface and deforms resiliently when pressed against a rigid current transfer surface, thereby to increase the area of contact. In the system shown, the member 1 is supported by resilient tongue-like bodies 3 which are fixed to the member 1 and to the outer ring 4 of a roller (or ball) bearing 5, and current passes between a commutator 2 and a support arm 6 by way of the member 1, the bodies 3 and the rigid rollers of the bearing 5, the latter optionally being of copper. The ring 4 may include an annular disc (8, Fig. 3, not shown) for attachment of the resilient bodies 3, and may also include a rim (9, Fig. 4, not shown) of friction material for contacting the commutator to provide direct drive of the ring 4 from the commutator. A similar friction rim (9) may alternatively be mounted on a tubular extension (10) of the ring 4, as in Fig. 5 (not shown). The arrangement may be used with slip-rings and tachogenerators.
