Abstract

1473326 Change-speed control AUTOMOBILES M BERLIET 20 Sept 1974 [9 Nov 1973] 41088/74 Heading F2D Left- or right-hand drive control of a slide-turn selector shaft 5 of a motor-vehicle transmission 3 is provided by a slide-turn shaft 13, mounted transversely on the engine 2 in a bearing bracket 15, and having right-angled ends carrying respectively a ball 16, engaging a socket 12 on a slide-turn shaft 9, universally jointed to the selector shaft 5 through a shaft 7; and a flared socket 17, receiving the ball end of a right-hand drive manual shift lever 19 ballmounted at 20 on the floor of a tilt cab. For left-hand drive a manual shift lever, mounted on the cab floor, directly engages the socket 12 of the shaft 9. To preserve the same gate pattern at each side, the angled ends of the shaft 13 may extend in the same direction instead of oppositely as shown.
