1472903 Shaft seals FEDERAL MOGUL CORP 12 Nov 1974 49019/74 Heading F2B A shaft seal having an elastomeric member 12 bonded to a rigid case 13 through a thin flexing frusto-conical section 21 has a lip portion 23 and an inwardly projecting portion 25 that contacts the shaft 30 during extreme run out conditions to prevent the lip 23 being tilted to a tangential position of the air side face and allowing leakage by capillary action.
