1472858 Preventing copper-induced degradation in polyethylene IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 Aug 1974 [30 Aug 1973] 40884/73 Heading C3P Degradation of polyethylene in contact with copper conductors is hindered by the incorporation therein of, as the only stabilizer, from 0À2 to 0À8% of the polyethylene of a phenol of formula in which R 1 and R 4 are alkyl radicals, R 2 and R 3 are alkyl, cycloalkyl or alkylcycloalkyl radicals and R 5 is an alkylene radical; or of a normal or basic Al, Ba, Ca, Mg, Sr or Zn salt thereof.
