Abstract

1457089 Stabilizers for polymers CIBAGEIGY AG 15 Sept 1975 [16 Sept 1974] 37774/75 Heading C3P [Also in Division C2] A stabilized natural or synthetic rubber composition comprises as stabilizer 0À005 to 5% by wt. relative to the rubber to be stabilized of a compound of the formula wherein R 1 is a C 1 -C 18 alkyl which is not branched at the α-position, R 2 is H or a C 1 -C 8 linear or branched alkyl, R 3 and R 5 are each independently H or C 1 -C 6 alkyl, and R 4 is C 1 -C 20 linear or branched alkyl which may be interrupted by S atoms. Specified synthetic rubbers are polybutadiene, ethylenepropylene copolymers, propylene-butene-1 copolymers, propylene-isobutylene copolymers, styrene-butadiene copolymers, terpolymers of ethylene and propylene with a diene, and styrene polymers which have been modified by rubber phases so as to be impact-resistant. Other antioxidants and other additives may also be present in the compositions. Examples are given in which polybutadiene rubbers are stabilized.
