Abstract
1472563 Annealing and tinning wires DIOSGYORI GEPGYAR and MAGYAR KABEL MUVEK 10 July 1974 [11 July 1973] 30648/74 Headings C7F and C7N Apparatus for combined annealing and tinning of wire 3 in which the wire is passed in succession through an electrically heated annealing zone 12, a tinning bath 17 with a lid closing the bath, a gauging outlet and then a precooling zone 13. As shown in Fig. 1 the wire drawn from unit 2 passes via pulleys 4, 5, 6, 7 through the annealing zone 12 which is formed by passing the wire over the annealing disc contacts 10 and 11. After precooler 13 the coated wire passes through a cooler 14 and is finally wound at 34. The tinning bath 17 comprises an electrically heated crucible 16 with a hinged top cover 30, a temperature controller 32, a coating thickness gauge 27 at the exit from the crucible and a hinge support 19 and manipulating arm 18 for tilting the crucible through 90 degrees. The crucible can therefore be removed from the operating position to a servicing position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1. The apparatus can therefore be used for annealing alone or for simultaneous annealing and tinning.
