Abstract

1472040 Sawing apparatus S D HARRIS and P RYMAN 16 March 1976 [21 March 1975] 11981/75 Heading B5L Apparatus suitable for use in increasing the clearance at the bottom of a door 1 comprises guide means 11, 12 having adjustable clamping means 15 ... 26 adapted to grip both the width and thickness of a door while the door is in situ on its mountings, a carriage 2 adapted in use to be traversed on the guide means across the width of the door and means 4 on the carriage for supporting a saw 3 in cutting relationship to the door. As shown the saw is circular and driven by a reversible electric motor but the apparatus may be designed for use with a manually operated saw or power jig-saw. End brackets 14 secured to the guide bars 11, 12 carry floor-contacting screws 27, 27<SP>1</SP> which serve to adjust the height of the cut, to prevent the door swinging in operation and to limit the traverse of carriage 2. As shown the carriage 2 is formed as a safety guard for the saw 3.
