1471821 Mechanical dish washing powders JOH A BENCKISER GmbH 27 March 1975 [29 March 1974] 12863/75 Heading C5D A storage-stable detergent composition in the form of free-flowing particles, suitable for mechanical dish washing, contains at least 25% of a sodium metasilicate with about 4À96 moles of water and a mole ratio of sodium oxide to silicon oxide of about 0À96 to 1 and preferably containing less than 0À3% by wt. of aluminium, less than 0À02% by wt, of iron, less than 0À3% by wt. of calcium and less than 0À3% by wt. of magnesium, 75% by wt. of the sodium metasilicate preferably having a particle size of from 0À2 to 1À5 mm., and the proportion of fines having a particle size of less than 0À1 mm., preferably not exceeding 5% by wt. A preferred composition comprises (A) 35 to 50% by wt. of sodium polyphosphate containing 4 to 8% of water; (B) 30 to 75% by wt. of the aforesaid sodium metasilicate; (C) 0 to 30% by wt. of alkaline inorganic builder, e.g. sodium carbonate; (D) 0 to 5% of a nonionic surfactant; and (E) 0À5 to 2À0% by wt. of a chlorine-releasing bleach. (D) may be ethylene oxide condensates with propylene oxide, C 8 -C 22 aliphatic alcohols or nonylphenol. (E) may be an alkali metal salt of perchlorisocyanuric acid or dichloroisocyanuric acid. (A) may be replaced wholly or in part by an organic sequestrant builder such as sodium citrate.
