Abstract
147,116. Jaeger, E. June 13, 1919, [Convention date]. Average speed indicators for vehicles, with or without taking account of stoppages, comprise time-and-distance indicating-hands a, b, moving over time and distance scales u, v, and a set of curves X from which the speed is read at the intersections of the indicating-hands. The hands a, b, are connected to pivoted spring-retracted sectors f, n driven by reducing-gearing from the clock, and the vehicle respectively, and are returned to zero on the depression of a push p whereby, through pivoted rods q, o, pinions e, m are removed from engagement with the sectors f, n which are then' zeroised by their springs r, .s. To avoid taking into account the time involved in stoppages, the time-indicating hand a may be locked during such periods or a third hand may be provided, and mounted concentrically with the hand a to show the time occupied when travelling only. The clock-work may be wound up by thebutton y or be driven from the vehicle.
