Abstract

1470983 Detergent G G MERKL 17 July 1974 [20 Aug 1973] 31756/74 Heading C5D [Also in Division C1] An aluminium product made by reacting " activated aluminium " (see Division C1) with a source of NO x , e.g. NO x gas or HNO 3 , in an aqueous phase at below 105‹ C. is mixed with a fatty material, e.g. tallow, bean oil, corn oil or carboxylic acid to form a powdered detergent. The aluminium product may be enriched with hydroperoxide and/or NH x groups to improve bleaching and disinfecting properties. In Example 4, 100 g. of a product formed by reacting concentrated HNO 3 with " activated Al " in the presence of water followed by treatment with H 2 O 2 was mixed with 30 g. lauric acid at 160‹ F. to form a detergent.
