Abstract

1470532 Pipe joints GROHE HANDELS GmbH 13 May 1974 [12 May 1973] 21067/74 Heading F2G A pipe connection apparatus for connecting wall mounted sanitary fittings includes a boss 9 and a connection member 1 which has three connection elements 2, 3, 5 for hot, cold and warm water respectively and a spare element 4 which may be blanked off and three passages 7, 8 6 formed by internal ribbing of the connection member corresponding to the connection elements, the passages passing into correspinding passages in boss 9 on to which a sanitary fitting, e.g. a flow control mixing device 17 is fixed. Components 1, 9 are joined by a hollow screw 11 which passes through bore 10 in boss 9 and through gasket 12 and screws into screw threaded portion 13 of passage 6 in connection member 1. Two outer passages in boss 9 corresponding to passages 7, 8 in connection member 1 have outlet slots 14, 15 arranged at 180 degrees to each other through which hot and cold water pass to flow control mixing device 16. Device 16 is attached to boss 9 by slipping the cylindrical socket in port 18 over boss 9 and securing it thereto by tightening set-screw 19 in part 18 against wedged face 20 of the boss. In use connection member 1 may be attached by connection element 5 to a shower supply pipe both being concealed within a wall and boss 9 attached at one end to the three passage outlet of connection member 1 so that it protrudes from the surface of the wall is fitted at its outer end with a flow control mixing device 16. Hot and cold water flows from supply pipes joined to connection elements 2, 3 via passages 7, 8 and slots 14, 15 respectively into corresponding passages in control device 16 whereby regulating valve 33 they may be mixed and returned as warm water, via hollow screw 11, passage 6 and connection element 5 to the shower supply pipe.
