Abstract

1470530 Printing plate SCOTT PAPER CO 24 Dec 1974 [17 Jan 1974] 55847/74 Heading G2C A planographic printing plate comprises a layer which contains an organic solvent-soluble negative working diazo compound, carbon particles and nitrocellulose. In an example aluminium sheet is coated with a composition of carbon particles, nitro-cellulose, alkyl resin, cellulose acetate, in butyl acetate, xylene and ethyl cellosolve. An image was etched with an YIG laser beam, which removes the coating in selected areas. The areas irradiated by the laser, become sensitive to U.V. light. The plate is next exposed overall to a carbon arc and developed with an additive developer which develops hardened image areas and removes soluble coating in the remaining areas. The plate then accepts ink in the area struck by the laser beam and accepts water in the non-image areas.
